ABOUT ME

I am an engineer and programmer by day and a wood worker by night. I have been blessed with three wonderful children and a beautiful, wise, and patient wife who is by far my best friend. A midwestern-born maker at heart, my passion has always been to create beautiful things. Over the years, my passion and creativity has been to focus on building things with wood. I love the idea of taking something like a piece of discarded wood and transforming it into something beautiful. I have built cutting boards, tables, rocking horses, mantles, and other specialty items for my clients.

As a part of this journey, I found myself frustrated having to pay top dollar for lumber at the big box stores. To resolve this problem, I built a portable sawmill. It took me around one year to do it, but through extensive effort, as well as some trial and error, I was finally successful, and today, I get all of my slabs from my mill.  My appreciation for what I find inside of old forgotten logs has never waned. I’ve never failed to be amazed by the beauty that is found inside each one. I quickly realized that the benefits of having a sawmill extended beyond just saving money on wood. It has opened an opportunity to offer other woodworkers custom-milled slabs at a lower price than they can find at their local saw mills.

My philosophy -“I can make that!” - has always been fueled by my willingness to never give up. I’ve logged many failures in my lifetime (pun intended!) while attempting to master the craft of designing and building. Every time, and in every case, my drive to reach the end goal has pushed me forward. I am continuing to improve my skills, working with new techniques and more complicated designs. Some have called me a skilled craftsman. For me, the journey towards improving my skills never ends. There is always more to learn and more to build.
